FREE TO ENTER - Lichess Blitz - IOW International Wildcard Qualifier

The Isle of Wight International will take place between 18th and 23rd Feb 2025. We are giving players a chance to win free entry into the Masters + free accommodation and boat travel to the Island.

To win this the player must win our 7 round Blitz tournament which starts at 8pm on Monday 12th August on Lichess. 

The event will be ECF Online Blitz rated. All players must have an existing ECF profile, or FIDE profile if not English Federation. 

Time control 5 minutes + 3 second increment

To enter the Lichess competetion you must first buy a free ticket here to provide your ECF or FIDE details then enter the competetion on our lichess team page. We need this information to ECF rate the games and ensure you are a genuine player.

Isle of Wight Chess Lichess Team

This prize is valued over £600 depending on the rating of the player. It's only going to be valid if over 30 players take part in the Lichess tournament. The games will be ECF rated regardless.

• Fake accounts and players that do not confirm thier ECF or FIDE details will be removed before the event. The prize is to come to the Isle of Wight and play OTB in a high level tournament. It would not be wise to try to cheat to qualify. If the winner's Lichess acount is supsepended for cheating within 90 days of the Lichess event, the prize will not be valid and we will play again. Games will be scanned for fair play.

If we do not get x30 players the tournament will repeat every Monday at 8pm until we do.

Should a player already entered into the 2025 event win, they will be refunded their cost of entry and still win the prize. If the player has conditions they will win a free IOW T Shirt and the prize will roll down to the next player.

Prizes for Lichess Competition 12th August - 8pm:

1st Place

• Free entry to the IOW International Masters 18 - 23 Feb 2025 
• Double room in 4* Hotel 17th to 24th Feb 
• Boat return Portsmouth to IOW (You just need to get to Portsmouth Harbour).
• If the winner holds a FIDE Classical rating under 1600, they will be given the option to either play in the U2000 or a suitable Congress section and your hotel will be valid for less days.
• Free entry to both Blitz events at the tournament. 
• 1 hour lesson with a GM at the event.

2nd Place

• Free entry to the IOW International based on what the player qualifies for on rating. Accommodation not included.

3rd Place

• 50% off entry to the IOW International based on what the player qualifies for on rating. Accommodation not included.

4th to 10th

• 20% off entry to the IOW International based on what the player qualifies for on rating. Accommodation not included.

Prizes are not redeemable for cash value or transferable. If your Lichess account is blocked for cheating within 90 days of winning the prize, your prize will not be valid.
