FIDE Blitz and a Simul with a GM added to IOW Congress

We are very pleased to announced that GM Keith Arkell has agreed to play a simul at the Wightlink Isle of Wight Chess Congress. This will be at 8pm on Sunday 21st April, in the playing venue. Capacity is limited to x25 players, entry is £10. Islanders and tournament players are welcome to come and spectate.

You do not need to be playing in the congress to participate but you do need to be an IOW chess player or a congress player. Entry is strictly limited and is on a first come first serve basis.

We can also announce a FIDE rated Blitz on Saturday 21st April. Starting at 8pm. Full details also on the same page. This is open to all and you do not have to be playing in the tournament to participate. This is of course optional to tournament players and you can decide on the day if you fancy it. The Blitz tournament will be directed by Shohreh Bayat with assistance from Hampshire Champion Iwan Cave. Entry is £10, pay on the day. The entry fees will be 50% to the prize pool and 50% to Shohreh and Iwan who will be working hard all weekend keeping things in order.
