Terry Dawson organised a fantastic day giving islanders a taste of tournament play. 7 players advanced from the initial round robin to play in the final afternoon stage.
After an excellent lunch of Shepherd's Pie and Apple Crumble (included in entry fee), it was onto the final stage. All played all, using clocks between: Harry Vernon, Terry Simms, Carl Sheeran, Phil Stevens, Dave Williams, Richard, Barnes and Phil Kennerley.
Harry emerged in first place with Terry Simms coming second. Great performance by Terry on his first IOW event.
The next event at Shanklin takes places on 2nd March 2024 and more info and how to sign up can be found here.
If you are interested in playing in tournaments, you can also check out the Ryde Rapid taking place in 20th July at the Yelf's Hotel. This is a full day of Rapid with x5 formal games each.
